Once in a lifetime tag....

This was an exciting year. I drew the once in a lifetime Mountain Goat tag and I got one.  It was an awesome experience.  I really had so much fun.  We started our journey out at inspiration point, hiked over to willard peak and then up and over ben lomand peak and down about 2000 feet to get my goat. These mountains are about 10,000 feet in elevation and we were on the TIP TOP.   It was an all day hunting trip.  The first picture is of Garet and I, my dad, Todd and Brenon.  This was our first time out to see what it was all about.  We saw a lot of goats that night but we were more or less getting educated and didn't want to take the first thing we saw.  I had a nanny tag and it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between a nanny and a billy.  So the following week we went out again.  I had the most incredible guides with me.  Garet, Chase and Brett( a guide that works for the ranch from new zeland).  Plus I had Todd spotting the North Ogden side of the mountains and my dad spotting the Liberty side of the mountains.  It was a fool proof formula for success.  Todd actually spotted and guided us into the herd we took our goat from.  We spent 14 hours total getting our trophy and it was AMAZING and so much fun.  In the second picture you can see the mountain top of Ben Lomand and we seriously were on the highest point of that peak, walked along the top and down to the spot we finally ended our hunt. Then it was a major hike back up all along the top and back to the truck.  It was hard and steep.  Garet, Chase and Brett do this for a living and  it was hard on them.  I don't think it is possible to realize the location of where these goats live unless you go up there.  It is so beautiful.  Thanks a million to all my guides and their hard work helping me to get an awesome, gorgeous once in a lifetime goat.  And by the way...it only took me one shot to drop this beauty.
